Technical Comparisons

Side-by-side comparisons of constructions and standards.

Comparisons in this section are written for the point in a project where a choice has to be made and two options look similar on paper. The useful comparison is never a table of headline numbers; it is a statement of which conditions favour which option, and what each option costs you when the conditions change.

Where two standards or two constructions are described as equivalent, the comparison sets out the specific layer or test where they diverge, so the difference can be checked against the project requirement rather than accepted on the strength of the word equivalent.
