Scope
Voltage range: 300/500 V and 450/750 V
Building wire for fixed installation in conduit, trunking and surface or embedded runs: single-core PVC-insulated wire (BV), aluminium (BLV), stranded (BVR), flat twin and sheathed types (BVVB, BVV), heat-resisting PVC (BV-105), and cross-linked types (BYJ) where the specification calls for higher temperature or longer service life.
This range is normally ordered by national designation and colour, and most tenders then specify further by the approval the finished installation has to carry. Tell us both.
Key characteristics
- PVC-insulated wire to GB/T 5023 / IEC 60227 at 300/500 V and 450/750 V, in copper (BV, BVR) and aluminium (BLV).
- Cross-linked options: BYJ with XLPE insulation, and WDZ-BYJ / WDZA-BYJ in cross-linked polyolefin — offered by this group for long service life in high-rise and public buildings.
- Cross-sections from 0.5 mm² to 400 mm²; the tables publish conductor construction, maximum DC resistance for both copper and aluminium, insulation thickness, maximum overall diameter and reference weight.
- Current-carrying figures are given for one, two and three loaded cores side by side, because installation method moves the figure more than the wire does.
Size range at a glance
Each size counted above carries its own dimensional and electrical figures in
the tables further down this page. Intermediate sizes are manufactured to order.
Construction
Each entry is identified three ways: an international description,
a construction code naming the material build-up, and a national
type designation given for cross-reference only. Read the code
string left to right — conductor, insulation, then screening,
armour and sheath where fitted.

On current ratings. The in-air and in-soil values in the
tables above are catalogue figures for the construction listed. The
rating available to your circuit depends on how it is installed —
installation method, ambient temperature, soil thermal resistivity,
burial depth and grouping. Send us your installation conditions and we
will rate the cable against them.

Type designations by region
Buyers search for a supplier by the designation their own market uses.
The codes listed against each construction above are the designations
this family is ordered under in China; each is given for cross-reference
only, and is published only where a supporting reference exists.
Type designations are given for cross-reference, so a specification written to IEC, GB, EN, DIN VDE, BS or GOST finds the right construction. Each designation is defined by the standard named beside it. Construction, standard edition and approval route are confirmed against your specification before an order is placed.
To quote we need
Send what you have of the following — a partial enquiry still lets us
start, and we will tell you which answers are missing.
- Designation required — BV, BVR, BLV, BVV, BYJ, WDZ-BYJ or another
- Copper or aluminium, and the voltage class
- Cross-section required for each size, with quantities against each
- Sheath colour and printing required
- The standard or approval the installation has to carry
