Shanghai Shenghua Cable Secures Nearly $10 Million Russian Order with Cold-Resistant Technology Supporting the

Against the backdrop of evolving global economic patterns, trade cooperation between China and Russia continues to deepen. As one of the leading enterprises in China's cable industry, Shanghai Shenghua Cable Group actively responds to the national "Belt and Road" initiative while continuously expanding into overseas markets. The successful acquisition of this substantial Russian order not only reflects the achievements of the company's international development strategy but also injects new vitality into China-Russia economic and trade cooperation.

Stringent Standards and Robust Technical Capabilities

Located in high-latitude regions, Russia experiences extremely low winter temperatures that can reach -40 to -50°C, imposing exceptionally strict requirements on the low-temperature performance of cable products. For this order, Russian clients explicitly required products to have EAC certification and pass rigorous low-temperature tests. EAC certification is a mandatory certification for Russia and Eurasian Economic Union countries (including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan). Cable products must comply with TR CU 004/2011 technical regulations on low-voltage equipment safety and TR EAEU 037/2016 regulations on restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Mr. Zhang, Head of the R&D Department at Shanghai Shenghua Cable, stated: "The Russian market has very high requirements for the low-temperature performance of cable products, typically needing to withstand environmental temperatures of -50°C. Our products utilize specially formulated insulation and sheathing materials that, after rigorous low-temperature testing, maintain excellent flexibility and electrical performance even in extreme environments of -50°C, fully meeting the usage requirements of the Russian market."
According to industry standards, the Chinese national standard GB12706 stipulates that the experimental method for cable low-temperature testing requires: at an environmental temperature of -15°C, the elongation at break of power cable sheath material samples should not be less than 20% when stretched. However, Shenghua Cable's products, when tested under the more stringent condition of -50°C, still maintain an elongation at break of over 25%, far exceeding standard requirements and demonstrating exceptional mechanical properties. This superior performance is one of the key factors enabling Shenghua Cable to win the trust of Russian customers.
This order encompasses various types of power cables, control cables, and specialty cables, primarily for use in Russian energy, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. All products have passed both EAC certification and Fire Safety Certification (FSC), meeting all regulatory requirements for entry into the Russian market.

Significant Achievements in International Market Development

Since its establishment in 1997, Shanghai Shenghua Cable Group has developed and grown over 26 years to become a significant force in China's cable industry, successively earning accolades such as "China's Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises," "China's Top 500 Private Enterprises," "Shanghai's Top 100 Enterprises," and "One of China's Top Ten Cable Industry Companies."

Mrs Wang, Director of the Foreign Trade Department at Shenghua Cable Group, explained: "We have a professional foreign trade team with over 15 years of experience, and our cable products have been exported to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide. Our medium-voltage department cables have passed KEMA testing, MA coal mine safety certification, and international certifications such as CE, EAC, and GOST, providing strong guarantees for product exports. In recent years, we have particularly focused on developing the Russian market and have specially engineered an extreme cold-resistant series of products for the region's harsh climate conditions, which have been highly recognized by Russian customers."

New Opportunities for China-Russia Trade Cooperation

In recent years, with the withdrawal of European and American companies from the Russian market, Chinese manufacturing has embraced new development opportunities in Russia. According to statistics, China-Russia trade reached 244.819billionin2024,ayear−on−yearincreaseof1.9244.819 billion in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%, with Chinese exports to Russia reaching244.819billionin2024,ayearonyearincreaseof1.9115.499 billion, an increase of 4.1%. In the first quarter of 2025, China-Russia trade continued to maintain its growth momentum.
Russia's cable industry development lags behind China's, and Chinese cable, wire, and equipment products are well-received by Russian enterprises due to their high quality and competitive prices. Cable products exported to Russia require different certification methods based on voltage levels and applications: low-voltage cable products mainly undergo EAC certification, while high-voltage cable products need to obtain GOST-R certification. Additionally, all cable products must obtain fire safety certificates to prove compliance with Russian Federal fire safety regulations.

Industry experts point out that China-Russia economic and trade cooperation has important strategic significance in the current international landscape. Chinese enterprises should seize opportunities, strengthen technological innovation, improve product quality, meet international market demands, and promote high-quality development of Chinese manufacturing. As a fundamental industrial product, wire and cable hold an important position in international trade, and Chinese cable enterprises should fully leverage their advantages and actively participate in international competition.

Conclusion

The successful acquisition of this substantial Russian order by Shanghai Shenghua Cable not only demonstrates the company's inherent strength but also reflects the enhancement of the international competitiveness of China's cable industry. With the deepening of the "Belt and Road" initiative, Chinese manufacturing will embrace broader international market opportunities and inject new vitality into global economic development.
