A PV array is a DC system installed permanently outdoors: high UV load, wide daily temperature swings, and long runs from string to combiner box to inverter. The cable must withstand that exposure for the lifetime of the plant, and its DC voltage rating has to match a system voltage that rises as strings get longer (more modules in series).
